INNOVATION ACCELERATOR
Information for collaborators
How can the Innovation Accelerator help you?
Many organizations and sectors are currently faced with significant challenges and are undergoing transformational change. The Innovation Accelerator is here to help by engaging groups of interdisciplinary student teams to research and provide ideas for the most pressing challenges in your industry and create a meaningful solution to a specific problem. The process is overseen by Sheridan and requires approximately 15-20 hours of your time over 10 weeks. At the end of the 10 weeks, you will receive approximately five pitch packages* that will include a collection of process documentation and well as a final pitch video. What you will get as a community collaborator:
1. Access to Sheridan student talent 2. Idea generation from an Interdisciplinary Team 3. Exposure to design thinking and the human-centred design process guided by Sheridan experts 4. Multiple ideas/solutions for your proposed challenge *Total number of pitch packages may vary based on student enrolment.
Collaborator timeline
Your role as a collaborator
In preparation for the process, the Project Manager for the Innovation Accelerator will have a meeting with you to help capture and clarify your challenge statement for the Innovation Teams. A video describing your challenge can be recorded by you or can be done as an interview via web-conferencing and recorded to share with the Innovation Teams. Community collaborators are asked to participate in activities at key points throughout the 10-week program. There will be four, live virtual meetings scheduled for you to communicate with the teams assigned to your project. The Portfolio Lead associated with your project will be coaching the teams and helping to ensure there is an effective use of your time in this part of the process. Live meeting days will be approximately two to three hours. Lastly, you will be involved in the pitch process. You will receive the five pitch packages that will include a collection of process documentation and well as teams' final pitch videos. The ranking of these pitches will be done via an online form. A final congratulatory video can be recorded and shared with the teams in the final week. Like the introduction video, you may choose to record these on your own or as an interview to be edited into a final presentation.
